Doctors and Therapists
Choosing the right person is an important part of beginning care. This section explains the roles of Tatmeen’s providers, how to search, compare, and verify licensing, and what to do if you need to switch.
- Psychiatrist: A medical doctor who diagnoses mental health conditions, develops treatment plans, and can prescribe medication within their scope.
- Psychologist: Provides assessment and psychotherapy using approaches such as CBT, ACT, and EMDR, and does not prescribe medication.
- Social worker: Helps with relationships, family and social concerns, and adjustment to loss, divorce, and life changes.
- Family physician: Assesses general symptoms and conditions where physical and mental health overlap, and prescribes general medication within their specialty.
Every provider on Tatmeen is licensed by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
Start with the nature of your need. Choose a psychiatrist if your symptoms are severe, clearly affect sleep, work, or daily life, or require a medical assessment or medication review. Choose a psychologist if you want talk therapy, changes in thinking and behavior, or help with anxiety, depression, or trauma. A social worker is well suited to family, relationship, and adjustment concerns, while a family physician can help when physical symptoms are involved or you are unsure which specialty to choose.
You may need more than one specialty, and a doctor and therapist can work together as part of an integrated plan.
Start with a psychiatrist if you are considering medication, already take medication that needs review, or have severe symptoms, recurring episodes, or major changes in mood or sleep. Start with a psychologist if you prefer therapy sessions and want to learn skills for managing thoughts, feelings, and behavior.
The choice is not final. A psychologist may refer you to a doctor, and a doctor may recommend psychotherapy alongside medication. If you are uncertain, use Quick Match or book an initial assessment with a family physician or another suitable provider to discuss your symptoms.
From the home screen, open “Care Providers” or use the search bar. You can enter a provider’s name or the issue you want help with, such as anxiety, depression, OCD, or relationships, then narrow the results by specialty, age group, language, gender, appointment time, session type, and price.
Open profiles and compare experience, areas of practice, ratings, and next availability. You can also browse clinics or categories such as psychiatry, psychotherapy, family counseling, and family medicine, then save suitable providers to your favorites.
Quick Match helps you narrow the provider list in about a minute. You answer four short questions about why you are seeking help, the relevant age group, and your preferences for the session or provider, then it shows options suited to your answers.
Use the results as a starting point. Open each profile and review the specialty, experience, language, price, and available appointments. Quick Match does not diagnose you or require you to book with a particular person, and you can change your answers or search manually at any time.
You can filter results by provider type, specialty or condition, age group, gender, language, session format, session length, price, and available time. You can also sort by next appointment, price, rating, or experience, depending on the options shown in the app.
Start with two or three filters that matter most rather than applying everything at once. For example, choose the specialty and language first, then compare appointment times and prices inside the profiles.
Yes. The app may feature a list of leading providers to make discovery easier. Its order is based on indicators such as user ratings, punctuality, experience, service and report completion, languages, and available session formats.
The list is a discovery tool, not a medical judgment that the first person will be right for everyone. Open the profile and review the provider’s experience with your needs, then choose based on language, availability, treatment approach, and how well the relationship feels after the first session.
Look for clear experience with the issue you want to discuss, your age group, a language in which you feel comfortable, and a treatment approach that fits your goal. Read the ratings, but focus on recurring patterns rather than one comment.
After the first session, reflect on the experience. Did the provider listen without judgment? Did they explain their role and the limits of confidentiality? Did you understand the assessment and next step? Did you feel safe and respected? A good therapeutic fit matters, and it is normal to try another provider before finding the right person.
The profile shows the provider’s name, photo, professional title, specialty, and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties classification number, along with qualifications, years of experience, areas of practice, age groups, and languages.
It also includes a summary of the provider’s treatment approach, session formats, durations and prices, overall rating and number of reviews, and next available appointment. You can add the provider to your favorites or share their profile card. Read the full profile before paying, especially any limits related to age or type of condition.
Every provider on Tatmeen holds a valid professional classification from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. The classification number appears in the provider’s app profile.
To verify it, copy the number and open the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties verification service, then match the name, specialty, and classification status. Tatmeen tracks expiry dates and sends renewal alerts, and the provider’s profile is hidden when the classification expires until it is renewed.
Tatmeen requires a valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties classification, verified identity, and recognized academic and professional qualifications in the provider’s specialty. Before accepting a profile, the team reviews the CV, professional history, and relevant subspecialty training.
Practical care experience is also reviewed according to provider type. In some categories, this includes a minimum of two years or 1000 hours of clinical practice. Acceptance is not automatic: applications go through review and contracting, and licensing and service quality continue to be monitored after the provider joins.
Yes. Use the gender filter on the Care Providers page to choose a man or woman, then review the available results in the specialty and appointment window you need. You can also open profiles one by one without using the filter.
Choose what makes you feel most comfortable speaking openly, and feel free to change your preference later. If there are few results, broaden the appointment time or session format while keeping the appropriate specialty.
Yes. Use the language filter and choose Arabic, English, or another language shown in the profiles. Each provider lists the languages in which they offer sessions, and additional dialects or languages may be available.
Changing the app interface does not automatically set the session language. Choose someone with whom you can describe your feelings and symptoms accurately, and tell the provider before issuance if you need a report in a particular language.
Yes. Tatmeen includes providers experienced in caring for children and teenagers. Use the age filter, then review the profile to confirm the age group and concerns the provider treats, such as anxiety, behavior, school difficulties, mood, or family relationships.
The guardian creates the minor’s account, arranges the appointment, and supervises care. The provider may use age-appropriate tools, including child and adolescent assessments, and decides when the guardian should attend and when to speak with the minor alone, while explaining privacy and safety boundaries.
Enter the condition or concern in search, or select it from the areas-of-practice filter. Open the provider’s profile and confirm that it mentions experience with the condition, age group, and treatment method, then compare the appointment, language, and session format.
For depression, anxiety, OCD, or trauma, you might start with a psychiatrist or psychologist. For relationship and family concerns, look for a social worker or a family or couples therapist. Severe addiction that requires detoxification or daily supervision needs a specialist in-person center.
Yes. You can change providers at any time. If the issue is minor, such as different expectations or communication styles, you can raise it at the beginning of the next session; sometimes that improves the therapeutic relationship. If you feel disrespected or the approach does not suit you, book with someone else without embarrassment.
Your appointment history and reports remain in your account to support continuity of care. If you bought a package tied to a particular provider, check its terms before switching. If the concern involves unprofessional conduct or safety, submit a complaint to support.
Yes. You can return to the provider’s profile and book another appointment, or use the available options from the previous appointment’s details. The provider may suggest weekly, biweekly, or monthly sessions based on your treatment goal and progress.
Continuity helps build a therapeutic relationship and makes it easier to follow homework and changes over time. Packages of four or eight sessions with the same provider may be available. Do not buy a package on the assumption that it guarantees a result; first discuss the suitable number and frequency of sessions.
Open the provider’s profile and tap the heart icon or “Add to Favorites.” The provider will then appear in the Favorites section of your account, making it easy to return to their profile and appointments.
You can save more than one provider and remove anyone by tapping the icon again. Adding a favorite does not book an appointment or lock in a price or availability, so review the profile each time you book.
Yes, through the appointment room in Tatmeen. The chat opens 24 hours before the session, allowing you to send a summary, report, lab result, image, or voice message that may help the assessment and to complete any scales or homework the provider sends.
After the session, materials from the completed appointment remain available to you according to their type. Sessions with a psychiatrist or family physician include a free 15-minute follow-up within 14 days for short questions. A longer therapeutic discussion requires a new session. Do not move the conversation to a personal phone number or WhatsApp outside the platform.
After completing a session, the app lets you rate the experience from one to five stars and write a review. Only someone who completed an appointment with the provider can rate them, so reviews are tied to real experiences.
Comments are reviewed before display, and the rating appears without exposing your health information. The provider cannot edit or delete your rating. Use reviews to understand general patterns, not as a substitute for checking specialty and experience or as a guarantee of a treatment outcome.
Open “Completed Appointments,” choose the session, then tap “Rate.” Select the number of stars and write a specific note about punctuality, respect, clarity of communication, and ease of the experience. You can rate each session separately and edit a rating later if the app offers that option.
Do not include another person’s name, diagnostic details, or highly sensitive information in a comment that may be displayed publicly. If you have a complaint about safety, professional conduct, or a payment, use the complaints channel instead of relying only on a rating.
Open the Help Center in the app, choose Complaints, and send the appointment number, a clear description of what happened, and the outcome you are seeking. The team reviews the provider’s professional conduct and the appointment’s operational records and may ask you and the provider for additional clarification.
Sessions are not recorded, and support staff cannot access appointment content; it is available only to the patient and provider. If the complaint is substantiated, Tatmeen may warn, restrict, or suspend the provider depending on the violation. Any refund or other amount due is handled under the appointment policy. If there is immediate danger or an assault, contact the relevant authorities at once.
