Direct issuance of sick leave certificates through Tatmeen is coming soon, with work underway to connect the service to the relevant government systems. For now, you can obtain a supporting medical report and take it to a clinic or hospital authorized to issue official medical leave.

Book with a psychiatrist or family physician and explain that you need documentation to support a medical leave request. The doctor can prepare a report describing the assessment, a diagnosis when established, and a recommendation for rest. You can then present it to an in-person healthcare facility that can complete the official leave process.

Once the service launches, medical leave will be issued by a licensed doctor within their scope of practice: a psychiatrist for mental health conditions and a family physician for general medical conditions. The decision and length of leave will depend on the medical assessment and will not be granted automatically simply because you booked an appointment.

Psychologists and social workers cannot issue medical leave, but they can prepare a supporting report or refer you to a doctor. Until direct issuance becomes available in Tatmeen, the report can support your request but does not replace the official sick leave certificate.

Yes. Once the service launches, medical leave will be issued by a licensed doctor with an electronic signature and a verifiable reference number for submission to employers and educational institutions. Some government or judicial bodies may set additional requirements or require a specific issuing authority.

Before requesting leave, ask the receiving organization which form it requires, the period of leave it will accept, and whether the document must be registered with a government system or issued by a specific body. The app will display acceptance and verification details when the service launches.

Yes. Integration with Sehhaty is part of the planned service, with the aim of registering the leave through the government channel and making it easier for an employer or educational institution to verify.

Until the service and integration launch, a medical report issued after a Tatmeen appointment will not automatically appear as medical leave in Sehhaty. Use the current process: obtain a supporting report from a Tatmeen doctor, then have the leave issued by an authorized healthcare facility.
